Laura stepped into our lives at the center three years ago. With her strong work ethic she quickly signed up for several classes to improve her employable skills. We provided her with job training skills that included resume writing, interview confidence, and support. One of Laura’s goals was to obtain her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License and get a full-time job in that field. Laura received funding assistance for her classes through Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services - Division for Blind Services (DARS/DBS).
Laura passed her CNA licensing exam and is now successfully working full-time as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
With a wonderful personality and a determination that won’t quit, Zach successfully graduated high school this past May. Through a strong family support system along with some training here at the center, he is achieving his goal for independence with his first step in the "real world". He has demonstrated his solid work ethic in junior-high and high-school through his performances in band, choir, and drama, receiving honor awards in each. Zach performs in plays at our local community theater showcasing his "Broadway" talents for all to see. We can't wait to see what the future holds for this young man!!!
